Baptist Health Care in talks to donate hospital campus

Baptist Health Care is seeking to donate its old hospital campus to the city of Pensacola, Fla., after opening a new $650 million campus last month, the Pensacola News Journal reported Oct. 30.

Baptist is working with city officials on a donation agreement in which the 50-acre campus would be demolished and redeveloped as a residential area. Under the agreement, the city would be responsible for demolition, which could cost up to $18 million. 

Paces Foundation is seeking funding to build affordable housing on the site and has pledged to pay Baptist $2.9 million for the land. The city is requesting the hospital put that money toward demolition costs.
