The 150,000-square-foot hospital, which will be called Atrium Health Union West, will house 40 beds, two operating rooms and 10 emergency department bays.
The Charlotte-based system announced plans to build the hospital in October 2018.
Atrium Health has been competing with rival Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health to expand into Charlotte and other cities in Mecklenburg County.
