Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care will break ground June 2 on its $300 million South Side Hospital in Chicago, according to a May 28 release shared with Becker’s.
Advocate received approval for the 52-bed hospital from the Chicago Plan Commission in late March.
The new hospital will replace the current Advocate Trinity Hospital, which has operated for more than a century. It will serve as a centerpiece for the system’s $1 billion investment in Chicago’s South Side.
The commitment features $500 million for community outpatient care, including 10 new neighborhood care sites and a mobile primary care unit; $300 million for the new hospital construction; $200 million to manage chronic disease and address social factors; and $25 million for workforce development, including hiring 1,000 new employees over the next three years, according to an Advocate fact sheet.
