Airbnb sues New York City over info-sharing law

Airbnb is suing New York City over a law that forces the website to share the private information of its hosts, which the lawsuit claims is unconstitutional, according to Fortune.

The law, signed by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Aug. 6, requires Airbnb and other similar websites to create monthly lists that disclose every host, location, type of rental, duration of rental and money collected by the host and paid to the booking platform.

Airbnb's lawsuit alleges the host information given to the Office of Special Enforcement could be accessed across city agencies and  potentially be requested by any citizen, with the intent of "intimidating New Yorkers into abandoning home-sharing."
