As financial pressures like reimbursement shifts and rising costs remain constant in healthcare, Columbia-based University of Missouri Health Care CEO Ric Ransom said they do not alter the system’s core mission and its commitment to the people it serves.
“Financial realities shape how we do the work,” Mr. Ransom said in a March 6 LinkedIn post. “They require discipline, prioritization and difficult trade-offs. Responsible stewardship isn’t separate from our mission — it’s what allows that mission to endure.”
Mr. Ransom said he pays close attention to financial conditions in his role as CEO “because stewardship matters.”
Despite those pressures, he said the system’s focus remains on caring for patients, educating future healthcare leaders, advancing research and supporting its workforce.
“What financial pressures do not change is why we exist: to care for patients in their most vulnerable moments, educate the next generation of health professionals, advance research and support the people who make this work possible,” he said.
