The city of Los Angeles initially filed the lawsuit against the hospital in 2015.
According to the lawsuit, police found an unidentified 38-year-old woman at a downtown shelter without a cellphone, ID, money or medication in 2014. The woman was reportedly dressed in a paper hospital gown. The lawsuit alleges the hospital improperly discharged the woman at least five times.
The hospital filed for bankruptcy in June and will reportedly pay the fine once a court approves the hospital’s sale, according to the article.
