1. Toward the end of the 1990s, the population of Pahrump began to increase steadily due to the appeal of the area’s climate and low living expenses to retirees. The community need gave rise to Desert View, which opened its doors in 2006. The hospital will celebrate its 10th birthday next month.
2. DVH has a 24-hour physician staffed emergency department and serves approximately 1,100 patients per month.
3. DVH has 25 private inpatient suites and offers complete radiology services, including CAT scans, MRIs, X-rays and mammograms.
4. The hospital’s laboratory is the only 24-hour lab in the area and provides physicians with accurate medical information to bolster care quality.
5. DVH has made efforts to facilitate local outpatient testing for veterans so they do not have to travel to Las Vegas to meet with representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
6. The hospital offers community children free immunizations, dental screenings, hearing and vision screenings, scoliosis screenings and sports physicals numerous times throughout the year.
7. During the back-to-school season, DVH and its staff raise funds to purchase backpacks and school supplies for the area’s less fortunate children.
8. The hospital’s CEO, Kelly Adams, has over 30 years of experience in the field and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the Pahrump community. Mr. Adams has been instrumental in developing a community program that challenges other businesses to collect food for less fortunate residents of the community.
