Bethesda Health implements biometric patient ID tech: 3 things to know

Bethesda Health, based in Boynton, Fla., has gone live on the RightPatient biometric patient identification management platform in two of its hospitals, according to a Healthcare Informatics report.

Here are three things to know.

1.  Bethesda Health launched the biometric identification platform in its Bethesda Hospital East and Bethesda Hospital West, both in Boynton Beach, Fla.

2. The RightPatient system used iris recognition technology, according to the report. The system is designed to prevent identity theft and fraud, as well as the creation of duplicate medical records.

3. The RightPatient system was customized to work with the hospital’s Siemens Invision EHR, according to the report.
