Health IT tip of the day: Secure the information, not the access points

One troublesome balancing act in the health IT world is security and access. Security is a necessity — one can’t play fast and loose with it — but too much can compromise access in terms of speed and efficiency. What’s the solution?

As important as it is to secure devices and information access points from both physical theft and hacking, cutting off intruders at the wellspring of that data is key for efficient protection.

There are too many devices to guarantee absolute security for each of them, but implementing protections in the cloud or servers where data is stored concentrates security efforts and decreases vulnerability.
