Patients of Albany, Ga.-based Phoebe Putney Health System have reportedly been receiving scam phone calls involving fake test results and gift card giveaways.

The health system is urging patients who receive suspicious calls to hang up and contact Phoebe Putney directly to verify and also report the incidents to local law enforcement or the FTC.

“Phoebe will never call to ask for sensitive information — such as Social Security numbers, financial details or medical diagnoses — for any sort of promotion or giveaway,” said Jonathan McGuire, chief compliance and privacy officer at Phoebe Putney Health System, in an Oct. 9 news release. “Even if you receive a call that appears to come from a Phoebe number, we urge you not to share any personal or medical information unless you initiated the call to a verified Phoebe number.”
