Teresa Bennett, an administrative staff member at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Ind., is retiring after a career spanning more than 42 years at the organization, according to a hospital news release shared with Becker’s.
Ms. Bennett joined the organization in January 1983 in the admitting department before transferring to a part-time secretary in the education department in 1988. She then transferred to administration, where she has worked since 1992.
Now, she is preparing for her last day, which will be Sept. 30.
“It is going to be hard that last day. It will be an emotional day for me,” Ms. Bennett said in the release.
During her career at Baptist Health Floyd, she has worked directly for various leaders, including vice presidents, according to the release.
She currently reports to the vice president of operations and chief nursing officer and vice president of nursing, and she supports the other administrators as needed.
Upon retirement, she plans to spend more time with her husband, two adult children and their families, as well as her parents, according to the release.
“Teresa has been a valued member of the Baptist Health Floyd team for 42-and-a-half years. She has been involved in so many areas over her tenure and has always given everything her personal touch, and has treated everyone with great respect and compassion,” Baptist Health Floyd President Mike Schroyer said in the release.
“She has been one of our biggest cheerleaders for our mission, vision and values, and has demonstrated each one with everything she touches. I congratulate Teresa on her long tenure, and I cannot thank her enough for the service she has provided. Her retirement is well deserved, and I know I speak for everyone in saying congratulations and good luck in your retirement. Thank you for your loving touch and your outstanding service to Baptist Health Floyd,” he added.
