Portland-based MaineHealth is expanding its Trellis Health primary care service to offer individual and household memberships.
The memberships, which start at $109 per month, offer access to a multi-disciplinary team including a primary care physician, behavioral health specialist, pharmacist, physical therapist and a health coach. The monthly fee covers all appointments and care coordination, according to a Sept. 18 news release shared with Becker’s.
MaineHealth has also converted one of its primary care practices into a synthetic capitated model, in which physicians “behave as though they are capitated, even though we are getting paid fee-for-service in the background,” according to the health system’s CEO, Andy Mueller, MD.
Per the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, patients with high-deductible health plans and direct primary care arrangements will be able to pay for services such as Trellis Health through their health savings accounts beginning in January. Current tax code disqualifies patients with these concierge arrangements to contribute to a health savings account.
