Worcester, Mass.-based UMass Memorial Health System’s UMass Memorial Medical Center, also in Worcester, has received approval from the Massachusetts Public Health Council to bring Marlborough (Mass.) Hospital onto its medical license through a corporate merger, a spokesperson for the health system said in a July 10 statement shared with Becker’s.
Marlborough Hospital, a 79-bed facility, was previously a UMass Memorial Health corporate affiliate under its own medical license, a spokesperson for the system confirmed with Becker’s.
“Under a single, coordinated clinical team, Marlborough patients will gain greater access to community-based specialty care and specialty consults, cutting-edge technologies, and tertiary services available through the Medical Center – keeping more care local,” the statement said.
UMass Memorial comprises four community hospitals: Southbridge, Mass.-based Harrington Hospital, HealthAlliance-Clinton (Mass.) Hospital, Marlborough Hospital, and Milford (Mass.) Regional Medical Center, according to its website.
HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital, Harrington Hospital and Milford Regional Medical Center will maintain separate medical licenses, the spokesperson said.
