Florida Hospital in Orlando will work closely with the University of Central Florida in the coming weeks as UCF’s College of Medicine undergoes accreditation evaluation, despite the health system’s recent dispute with the program, according to a Knight News report.

UCF’s medical school has partnered with Florida Hospital for graduate medical education opportunities but recently announced plans to build its own teaching hospital and develop a GME program with Florida Hospital competitor HCA.

“We have focused our attention on the accreditation visit, the matter of foremost importance,” said Lars Houmann, president and CEO of Florida Hospital, in the report.

UCF’s medical school is undergoing accreditation evaluation from the Liaison Committee of Medical Education. The program has received provisional accreditation but a final determination will not be made until 2013, when UCF’s first medical school class is in its fourth year.
