HSHS hospital names chief physician

HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill., has promoted Ashish Tokhi, MD, from interim to permanent chief physician executive.

Dr. Tokhi has held the role in an interim capacity since September, according to a Feb. 6 news release shared with Becker’s. He has served Hospital Sisters Health System since 2008, beginning his career there as an internal medicine primary care physician at Decatur, Ill.-based St. Mary’s Hospital. For the past decade, he has served as the medical director for inpatient services at HSHS Medical Group in the Illinois region. 

He succeeds Gurpreet Mander, MD, who now serves as chief medical officer at Phoenix-based Banner University Medicine. 

Hospital Sisters Health System is also based in Springfield.
