The board voted to take over the hospital July 25, and the hospital is now called Claiborne County Hospital. According to Claiborne County Administrator James Johnson, Team Health owes approximately $869,000 in lease payments. The operator began leasing the hospital in 2008 and has been behind on payments since 2010, according to the report.

The county has hired Fayette, Miss.-based Jefferson County Hospital CEO Jerry Kennedy to consult on the situation, and the county may hire a management company or lease the hospital again, according to the report. In addition, Claiborne County has filed for property insurance and obtained a restraining order against Team Health.
