The hospital hired Building One Facility Service of Durham to take over the tasks previously handled by its environmental services department.
Hospital officials encouraged the laid-off employees to apply for positions with Building One, according to the report. Those who do not go through the interview process or are not offered jobs will be offered severance packages based on their tenure at the hospital.
