Littleton (Colo.) Adventist Hospital. Littleton Adventist Hospital has been working to promote environmental awareness and develop innovative sustainable efforts since 2008, when it developed its Green Team. Since then, the hospital reduced its electricity consumption by 3 percent, amounting to roughly 200 metric tons of carbon dioxide, and reduced its biohazardous waste by 43 percent through a reusable sharps management program. Little Adventist is a Practice Greenhealth 2015 Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award honoree, as well as a member of Practice Greenhealth’s Circles of Excellence in waste reduction, sustainable food services and water conservation.
