Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC (Pittsburgh).The USGBC awarded Magee-Womens Hospital a LEED Silver certification for its intensive care and patient care unit expansions in 2013. The units incorporate materials that are both recyclable and free of hazardous chemicals in the flooring, walls and furniture. Other commitments Magee-Womens made to reduce its carbon footprint include purchasing local materials and recycling nearly 100 percent of its construction waste. This year, Practice Greenhealth recognized Magee-Womens with a Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award and with three Circles of Excellence awards in leadership, chemical reduction and environmentally preferable purchasing.
