Hoag Hospital-Irvine (Calif.). Hoag Hospital-Irvine opened in 2010 and became one of the first hospitals in California to achieve LEED Silver certification the same year. To reduce the hospital’s environmental footprint, the facility features energy-efficient lighting fixtures, low-flow toilets, forest-certified wood products and self-cleaning porcelain floor tiles. Additionally, 75 percent of the materials used to construct the hospital were recycled from the demolition. Hoag Hospital-Irvine also participates in all six HHI Challenges.
