Karen Frush, MD. Chief Patient Safety Officer of Duke University Health System (Durham, N.C.) and Vice President, Quality of LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.). Dr. Frush serves as LifePoint Health’s vice president of quality and chief patient safety officer of Duke University Health System, a position she took over in 2004 after completing the National Patient Safety Leadership Fellowship program. She sits on the Pediatric Patient Safety Expert Panel for Joint Commission Resources and is a master trainer for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety program. Dr. Frush was also the first pediatrician appointed to the North Carolina State Emergency Medical Service advisory board, which she served on for 11 years.
