Atul Gawande, MD. Author and Endocrinologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Boston). Dr. Gawande practices general and endocrine surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and teaches at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston. He is the author of four New York Times best-selling books, including The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right, which highlights the benefits of using checklists to prevent adverse events and improve patient outcomes. Dr. Gawande received AcademyHealth’s Impact Award for highest research impact on healthcare, the Lewis Thomas Award for Writing about science and a MacArthur Fellowship, among other awards.
