Steven M. Safyer, MD. President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine (New York City). Dr. Safyer was appointed president and CEO of Montefiore in 2008. As the organization’s physician leader, Dr. Safyer was responsible for integrating Montefiore Medical Center with Bronx, N.Y.-based Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Safyer previously spent 10 years as senior vice president and CMO, growing the health system to include 10 hospitals and more than 200 ambulatory care centers. Dr. Safyer has committed his career to improving healthcare for underserved populations and was instrumental in fighting HIV and tuberculosis epidemics during the 1990s in New York City.
