Eugene Woods. President and CEO of Carolinas HealthCare System (Charlotte, N.C.). Mr. Woods’ interest in healthcare began during his undergraduate years at Pennsylvania State University, when he accidentally walked into a local hospital administrator’s presentation during a career fair and shortly after decided to major in health policy and administration. Now, he serves as president and CEO of Carolinas HealthCare System, where he oversees more than 60,000 employees at more than 900 care locations in North and South Carolina. Prior to taking the helm at Carolinas HealthCare Systems in February 2016, Mr. Woods served as president and COO of Irving, Texas-based Christus Health for around five years. He also acts as chairman of AHA’s board of trustees and writes a healthcare blog called “Words from Woods.”
