James Leonard, MD. President and CEO of Carle Foundation Hospital (Urbana, Ill.). Dr. Leonard was promoted from vice president of medical affairs of Carle Foundation Hospital and associate medical director of Carle Clinic to president and CEO of Carle Foundation Hospital in 2000. Dr. Leonard oversees Carle Foundation’s 134-bed hospital and physician practice operations, as well as its 250,000-member health plan licensed in four states. Under his leadership, Carle Foundation Hospital achieved the American Hospital Association Hospitals & Health Networks‘ Health Care’s Most Wired recognition in 2017. Dr. Leonard, who practiced as a family physician from 1984 to 1999, serves on the board of trustees for the American Hospital Association.
