Jon Burns. Senior Vice President and CIO of University of Maryland Medical System (Baltimore). Mr. Burns joined University of Maryland Medical System in 2006 and currently serves as senior vice president and CIO. He is responsible for all IT services and strategy for the system’s 12 hospitals, as well as supply chain strategies and medical system integration and operations. Prior to joining UMMS, Mr. Burns was senior executive of IT for Cleveland Clinic Health System, where he gained experience overseeing IT for Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and the system’s emerging technologies initiatives. He also spent time as the chief technology officer of eCleveland Clinic, an internet-based care delivery model, and served in senior leadership positions at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System.
