Sentara Norfolk (Va.) General Hospital-Sentara Heart Hospital. The 112-bed Sentara Norfolk General Hospital houses five cardiac operating rooms and 140 board certified cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and anesthesiologists that perform more than 1,900 cardiothoracic surgeries and see around 100,000 patients for noninvasive diagnostic testing annually. Last month, the hospital’s cardiac program performed its 400th transplant. The American Heart Association Sentara Norfolk with the Mission: Lifeline Quality Achievement Award in 2016 and U.S. News & World Report ranked the Sentara Heart Hospital among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for adult cardiology and heart surgery hospitals for the 17th consecutive year.
