Nebraska Medicine | 100 Hospitals with Great Heart Programs 2017

Nebraska Medicine (Omaha). As of August 2017, Nebraska Medicine touted the only heart transplant program in the state and clocked its 289th heart transplant procedure. Surgeons at Nebraska Medicine implant more than 60 ventricular assist devices per year, making them one of the largest left ventricular assist device programs in the nation. The hospital's surgeons have performed 150 transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures, 10 total artificial heart replacements and seven lung transplants since launching its heart program. The American College of Cardiology National Cardiovascular Data Registry Action presented the hospital with five consecutive National Patient Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Awards from 2011 to 2015, and the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline granted the hospital its Gold Quality Achievement Award in 2017 for improving heart attack treatment.
