Saint Thomas West Hospital (Nashville, Tenn.). Saint Thomas West Hospital, an Ascension affiliate, relaunched its heart transplant program in May 2016 after a five-year hiatus. In the first year since re-establishing its heart transplant program, Saint Thomas West surgeons performed 26 heart transplants and received CMS approval for the organ transplant program. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons granted Saint Thomas West its highest possible rating, a three-star rating, in overall quality for isolated coronary artery bypass surgery and isolated aortic valve replacement. In June 2017, the hospital opened the Saint Thomas Heart Aortic Center to treat patients with aortic disease.
