More open-heart surgeries are performed at the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center each year than any other cardiovascular surgery program in New Jersey. Morristown not only performs a great deal of heart surgeries but also delivers excellent results, as the medical center was named by U.S. News & World Report as a top 50 hospital for cardiology and heart surgery in its 2014-15 rankings. Morristown’s cardiac surgery program also received a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, which was given to only 10 percent of cardiac surgery programs nationwide.
