Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.).

The department of orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic includes more than 80 orthopedic physicians trained in a range of specialties. The hospital, a Blue Distinction Center+ for hip and knee replacement and a Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery, has a history of healthcare "firsts." In 1970, a Mayo orthopedist was the first in the United States to implant an artificial hip joint, for instance. Mayo Clinic's Orthopedic Research Division currently includes 24 funded investigators, several of which are clinicians, who have received nearly $7 million in annual funding. In 2014, Mayo Clinic was named one of the nation's top 100 quality hospitals for orthopedic surgery by CareChex and it has received Magnet accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
