 Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.)

This year, Mayo Clinic’s heart program is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Since 1914, the heart program has grown to include more than 300 heart specialists and has come to be regarded as one of the finest heart programs in the country. It was ranked No. 2 in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s 2014-2015 top-ranked hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery. Also, in 2014, it was named one of the 50 top cardiovascular hospitals in the country by Truven Health Analytics. Mayo Clinic’s cardiology research center includes seven disease programs and focuses on translational research. A year ago, researchers at the clinic found a way to resynchronize cardiac motion following a heart attack using stem cells, and the findings were published in the September 2013 issue of the Journal of Physiology
