Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is responsible for cancer care and research at UT Southwestern Medical Center, is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in North Texas, serving nearly 7 million people across 12 counties. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer recognized the center for a three-year accreditation with commendation, in addition to granting it the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2009.
