University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Center (Ann Arbor). The University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Center’s department of neurosurgery comprises 24 clinical faculty and eight research faculty, who oversaw 3,600-plus operative cases between 2015 and 2016. The department prides itself on clinical excellence as well as research, with all clinical faculty members participating in research projects to advance the field. The hospital also houses a robust spine and orthopedic program through the Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Center, which brings together more than 250 physicians from 10 specialties. Launched in 2014, the center provides services at 50 clinics in Ann Arbor and across southeast Michigan. A Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery, the hospital was ranked No. 8 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for neurology and neurosurgery for 2017-18.
