City of Hope Helford Clinical Research Hospital (Duarte, Calif.). City of Hope Helford Clinical Research Hospital, located northeast of Los Angeles in Duarte, Calif., is one of the best dedicated cancer treatment centers in the nation. It is designated a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute, and is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Its 16,000-square-foot women’s center brings multidisciplinary teams together to deliver coordinated breast and gynecologic cancer care. City of Hope is also home to the Positive Image Center, a one-stop shop for female cancer patients’ beauty and image-related needs. Patients can get haircuts and cancer-specific cosmetology services; buy wigs, hats, scarves and post-mastectomy prostheses; and receive counseling for image-related issues or attend educational workshops on cosmetic techniques.
