University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center. As an academic medical center, URMC is the main hub for University of Rochester’s teaching and research initiatives, which brought in nearly $1.3 billion in funding over the past five years. At the center of healthcare delivery at URMC is Strong Memorial Hospital, which was nationally ranked in two specialties — diabetes and endocrinology and neurology and neurosurgery — by U.S. News & World Report in 2016-17. The medical center also includes a children’s hospital and four other hospitals throughout the state.
