Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla (Calif.). Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla was established in 1924 by American philanthropist and journalist Ellen Browning Scripps.

Scripps Memorial Hospital La JollaThe 318-bed Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, a Level II trauma center, was the first hospital in San Diego to receive Magnet designation for nursing excellence. The hospital is part of San Diego-based Scripps Health, a private, nonprofit health system with four hospitals and more than 2,600 affiliated physicians. This March, Scripps broke ground on the construction of a six-story, $130 million medical office building for specialists on Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla's campus.

In 2013, Truven Health Analytics named Scripps Health one of the top 15 health systems in the country. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Scripps La Jolla Hospitals and Clinics, which includes Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and its affiliate Scripps Green Hospital, as the No. 6 hospital in California and one of the top 50 in the country for six specialties, including cardiology, orthopedics and gastroenterology.
