MHP Medical Center (Shelbyville, Ind.). MHP Medical Center, a part of Major Health Partners, was built in 1924 after a late William Major and his wife Helen Thompson willed their home the City of Shelbyville. In January 2017, MHP Medical Center shuttered its previous facility, MPH Major Hospital, and moved to a new facility in Shelbyville with 56 private inpatient rooms and 38 outpatient rooms in its ambulatory care center. The hospital was one of the first facilities in Indiana to implement an EHR. The National Rural Health Association recognized MHP Medical Center as a 2017 Top 20 Rural Community Hospital.
