Top 5 Alabama hospitals patients would definitely recommend

The following hospitals in Alabama have the highest proportion of patients who reported yes, they would definitely recommend the hospital, according to their HCAHPS survey results.

The figures are from CMS' Hospital Compare website and were collected between July 2014 and June 2015.

For reference, the average rate of hospital recommendation in Alabama is 71 percent — the same as the national average.

Note: Hospitals with fewer than 100 completed patient surveys were excluded from the data sorting process.

1. University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital — 86 percent

2. Fayette (Ala.) Medical Center — 84 percent

3. Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital (Phenix City) — 82 percent

4. St. Vincent's Birmingham (Ala.) — 81 percent

5. Flowers Hospital (Dothan) — 80 percent
