Google searches for vision problems spike after solar eclipse

Immediately following the solar eclipse, Google searches related to vision problems spiked in popularity, according to the Business Insider.

The search terms included items such as "my eyes hurt," "blurry vision," "vision damage" and "eye doctor," which reveal the panic that set in around 3 p.m. ET, when the eclipse passed over the East Coast.

Although Americans were worried about vision loss directly after the eclipse, experts say that in many cases symptoms won't appear for several hours or a few days.

Specific symptoms to be wary of include sensitivity to light, eye pain, distorted vision, loss of central vision or altered color vision, according to Preventblindess.org.
