FBI launches search for physician convicted on drug, conspiracy charges

The FBI's Idaho agency Thursday announced a search for a physician who failed to show up for a verdict in a case in which he was convicted of 66 drug distribution and conspiracy charges, according to NWCN news.

The physician, Rafael Beier, DO, co-owner of Pinehurst, Idaho-based Silver Valley Medicine, now faces a federal arrest warrant and a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a maximum penalty of $1 million, according to the report.

Dr. Beier sold illegal prescriptions for painkillers and Adderall both in his office, at bars and in parking lots, according to the report. He reportedly received cash for the prescriptions. Dr. Beier also sometimes used the prescriptions to barter for favors, such as seeking forgiveness for his girlfriend's debt to strippers, according to the report.

Dr. Beier should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the report.
