Texas county will soon lose its only cardiologist

Orange County, Texas will soon lose its only cardiologist two years after Orange, Texas-based Baptist Hospital ended its inpatient services, according to KBMT.

Miguel Castellanos, MD, has worked in Orange County for 26 years, but now plans to move out of Orange. After closing its inpatient center in 2015, Baptist also closed its emergency room in January 2017.

"Professionally, it has been very frustrating, but that is the least of the problems," said Dr. Castellanos. "It has been tough for a lot of the citizens of Orange County, especially for patients that have difficulty in traveling or no insurance."
