Illinois Hospital Association CEO to take AHA role: 3 things to know

Maryjane Wurth, president and CEO of the Illinois Hospital Association is joining the American Hospital Association in late January as chief strategy and relationship officer, and president and CEO of Health Forum, a strategic business enterprise of the AHA.

Here are three things to know about Ms. Wurth.

1. She has been president and CEO of IHA since 2009.

2. Ms. Wurth's accomplishments include:

  • Establishing IHA's first federal office in Washington, D.C.
  • Creating the Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality, a strategic center committed to "informing, empowering and leading IHA members in advancing Illinois as a person centered, national model for high value healthcare."
  • Developing the IHA's transformation and physician agendas
  • Leading the association's efforts to create a new statewide integrated organization with the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council

3. A.J. Wilhelmi, who joined IHA in early 2012 as chief government relations officer, will take over for Ms. Wurth as IHA's new president and CEO, effective Jan. 1. Additionally, Dan Yunker will join IHA Jan. 1 as executive vice president, and president and CEO of IHA's new Midwest Healthcare Institute, which officials said will offer solutions to hospitals and healthcare organizations for quality and performance improvement and serve as an incubator for innovation and development.
