AONE elects new board president: 6 things to know

The American Organization of Nurse Executives membership has elected Bob Dent, DNP, RN, as the 2017 president-elect of the AONE Board of Directors.

Here are six things to know about Dr. Dent.

1. He has more than 25 years of healthcare experience.

2. In his current role, Dr. Dent serves as senior vice president, COO and CNO of Midland (Texas) Memorial Hospital.

3. He will take over as president of the AONE board Jan. 1, 2018.

4. Dr. Dent is a member of the AONE Board and is past chairman of the AONE Foundation and past board member of Texas Organization of Nurse Executives. Additionally, he serves on several nonprofit and university boards.

5. He earned his doctorate from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock.

6. In addition to Dr. Dent's election, also elected to the AONE Board of Directors, serving three-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2017, are:

  • Erik Martin DNP, RN, executive clinical director, heart and vascular service line, The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati.
  • Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, CNO of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.
  • Dana Bjarnason, PhD, RN, vice president and CNO, associate dean for clinical affairs, for Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
