CFO Suzanne Haggard: Strengthening Performance at Touro Infirmary

Despite economic challenges, Touro Infirmary — a nonprofit, community-based hospital in New Orleans — has a stable outlook under the leadership of CFO Suzanne Haggard.

suzanne haggardTouro has shown operating improvement and markedly strengthened its balance sheet during the past two and a half years, according to Moody's Investors Service. Moody's recently upgraded Touro's bond rating to "Baa2" from "Ba1" due in part to its operating performance and cash flow generation, which has been bolstered by an affiliation with Louisiana Children's Medical Center and Children's Hospital in New Orleans. Touro had a 10.9 percent operating margin in 2012 and 13.5 percent in the first six months of 2013, according to Moody's.

Ms. Haggard has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare management and consulting. She served as CFO and controller at Touro from 1991 to 2001, when she left to start her healthcare consulting firm, Haggard & Associates. She returned to Touro as CFO in December 2010 and oversees all of the hospital's financial and revenue cycles processes.

Ms. Haggard holds a bachelor's degree and a master's — both in professional accountancy — from Mississippi State University.
