Welltok acquires Zamzee to boost children's health engagement

Consumer health engagement platform Welltok plans to acquire Zamzee, a digital health program aimed at boosting healthy solutions and engagement for kids and their families.

Welltok's CafeWell Health Optimization Platform allows consumers to interact with their health, promotes healthy behaviors and rewards individuals for healthy activities. The hope is the Zamzee acquisition will help all family members, children included, to be actively engaged in their health.

"Zamzee will be an essential component of CafeWell since it gets the whole family involved in their health," said Jeff Margolis, chairman and CEO of Welltok. "Health optimization is achievable at every age, and engaging in healthy behaviors in adolescence is proven to have great impact on bending the curve over the long term and creating healthier, happier populations."

Zamzee was developed by HopeLab, an organization that creates technology products to help improve people's lives.

"We created an effective, evidence-based product that uses technology to motivate healthy behaviors among kids and families," said Margaret Laws, CEO and president of HopeLab. "We're excited to see the impact of that work extended further as part of an integrated health program for both kids and adults."
