Presbyterian Healthcare Services' EHR implementation-related costs exceed $33M

Albuquerque, N.M.-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services implemented a new EHR, and according to the system's latest Form 990 filing, all the related costs exceeded $33 million, according to an Albuquerque Business First report.

Presbyterian integrated Epic's EHR, and the process has required services from other vendors and companies. The system is also working with Leidos Health and T-Systems as part of its implementation process, according to the report.

Presbyterian's latest Form 990 filing from 2013 indicates the system paid Epic $14.5 million, T-Systems $9.9 million and Leidos Health $9 million, according to the report.

Dale Maxwell, executive vice president and chief administration officer for Presbyterian, said in the report the system uses these out-of-state services because they provide services at a level that isn't found within New Mexico. "These services are only offered outside of New Mexico at the level and complexity we require," he told Albuquerque Business First.
