30% of healthcare workers do not have a unique login ID: 5 findings

Password sharing, concurrent logins and lack of unique login information put healthcare organizations at risk of security breaches, but these issues persist in many organizations, according to software provider IS Decisions' Healthcare: Data Access Compliance report.

Here are five points from the survey.

1. Nearly a quarter of healthcare staff members (30 percent) do not have unique logins.

2. Sixty-three percent of healthcare workers have the ability to log on to different devices and workstations concurrently.

3. Nearly half of healthcare workers (49 percent) must log off manually.

4. Just over half of healthcare workers (55 percent) received IT security training, while 29 percent did not receive any security training at all.

5. Though security remains an issue in healthcare, 82 percent of healthcare workers have access to patient data.
