Leidos wins DOD contract, Emedon reports $7.9M in Q2 income & more –5 RCM company key notes

Here are five recent news updates on key healthcare revenue cycle management companies.

North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital implemented CarePayment's flexible patient financing program, which allows patients to pay medical bills over a period of time at no interest for the life of the account without any impact on patients' credit scores.

Emdeon reported $7.9 million in net income for the quarter, up from a $59.5 million loss in the second quarter of 2014.

Evalon, a U.S. Bancorp subsidiary, partnered with Emdeon to launch Transcend Pay. The new payment processing platform for healthcare providers is designed to increase the speed with which providers receive payments, according to payment week report.

The DOD posted its decision on the Contracts page of its website, naming Leidos as the winner for the Defense Healthcare Management System Modernization program. According to the announcement, "the contract will provide an electronic health record off-the-shelf solution, integration activities and deployment across the Military Health System." Cerner’s team, including Leidos and Accenture, was up against an Epic/IBM/Impact Advisors team and an Allscripts/Computer Sciences/Hewlett-Packard team.

MedAssets reported second quarter net revenue of $190.4 million, up 8.6 percent from $175.4 million in the second quarter of 2014.
