Fitch: ACA repeal would be credit negative for hospitals
President-elect Donald Trump intends to dismantle the ACA, a move that would be credit negative for healthcare providers, according to a Fitch Ratings report.
The ACA has contributed to hospitals seeing higher volumes of insured patients, and those volumes would drop if the ACA is repealed or materially replaced, according to Fitch.
Fitch noted a repeal of the ACA may also slow the transition to value-based payment models and cause fewer people to keep prescription coverage, which would be modestly negative for the pharmaceutical industry.
