Boca Raton Regional Hospital sees net income plummet 68%

Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital said revenue increased in fiscal year 2016, but the hospital ended the fiscal year with lower net income, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

BRRH recorded revenue of $462.3 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30, up 11.5 percent from revenue of $414.5 million in FY 2015.

However, higher expenses related to labor, supplies and professional fees dragged down the hospital's bottom line. BRRH also paid to settle a large medical malpractice claim in FY 2016, according to the report.

BRRH ended FY 2016 with net income of $3.9 million, down 68 percent from net income of $12.2 million in the year prior.
